Question CWC SBS MKII "Battery Saver" mode???

    Hi all,

I cannot find any information on the ETA 955.122 Swiss Quartz movement that may address what I witnessed with my watch....

My watch is the newer MKII model with sapphire. I bought it used, but the watch must not be very old as I believe the MKII models are fairly new. Anyway, it sat on my desk for a few weeks while I wore another watch, and I suddenly noticed its seconds hands jumping in two-second jumps. I was afraid the battery was getting low and this was the low battery indicator...confusing because the watch probably less than a year old. It did this for a day, and then I strapped it on to wear it. Suddenly the seconds hand is back to normal (clicking every second). I can only surmise that the battery is healthy and the watch had entered into some sort of battery saving mode while not in use.

Does anyone have detailed information on this?

My guess: corrosion of the battery contacts or a loose battery. I'm not actually sure what triggers the EOL indication on ETA watches, but it's probably simply the battery voltage seen at the circuit.

I had a similar issue with my RN diver and it was just that the battery wasn't seated correctly

Could be the new diver's don't have the dust cover any more and the battery could even be the wrong size but cwc divers watches are of high quality and the Swiss movement is a proven work horse .

    Hi guys,

Very interesting input thus far. Much appreciated. I'm going into town today to have the watchmaker take a look. We'll check the seating of the battery, proper battery, and dust cover, and anything else we can think of. It has been working flawlessly since I put it on over 24 hours ago, but I want to know it's fixed. Will keep you posted.

    Hi all,

She was skipping seconds again. Watchmaker opened her up, and the battery was seated correctly. He took it out and placed it on the meter and it was reading a little low, so we replaced the battery. Seems to be good as new now. Anyone know how long these batteries are supposed to last in this watch? I was surprised to have had to replace the battery already.

Oh yeah, there was no dust cover over the battery, but it was seated well.

You should get just over 5 year's battery life.

the correct battery is a 371; there is no movement cover fitted to the new model -

Thanks all. Hopefully I'll get five years out of it now.

I'm getting in late to this thread, but back in 2014 I had a problem with the battery also. Purchased the watch brand new a year later I sent it back ,they did a battery service. Worked fine ever since.
