Default "timex archive" - timex seems to get back on track

    just stumbled over this:

timex seems to have realized the historic goodness the once were and have established a line called "timex archive" http://www.timex.com/archive/

what i particularly like is that in some cases they have resisted the stupid oversized watch trend and offer some models in the right smaller sizes - like this classic timex camper in a 36mm case: http://www.timex.com/camper-mk1/TW2P...ers-collection

or this beautiful classic dive watch design in a 38mm case:

    http://www.timex.com/navi-ocean/TW2R...archive-styles

and the prices are not too bad either - not your average timex mall prices but also not overpriced hipster brand prices

the question is: "do i REALLY need another watch?"

This one does it for me... classic field watch design and probably the nicest strap.

Agreed. If it's not at least 40mm I'm not interested. I don't like the gang banger huge watch either, but small watches are just as undesirable in their own way.

There's a really well known photo of a USMC Scout Sniper team of three men at what I believe is Khe Sahn in 68', the Spotter kinda' looks like Jerry Reed.
My point is that the Shooter is wearing, what i'm pretty sure of, is a Timex Diver on a black rubber or neoprene strap.
I know this because I had this exact same watch as a teenager in the mid 70's & immediately spotted it when I first saw the photo, sometime in the early 80's. I think it was my very 1st. Diver.
I had a Timex mechanical plastic type 46374 when I went through Basic Naval Training in 83'.
It didn't last very long though......
