imgur seems to work really well...fast and easy which is good for an idiot like me !

Greetings, does this all mean photobucket is no longer working on the forum? All the pictures are off line on many threads, it really is a pity. (Personally I'd like to stick to Photobucket, I have tons of pics on it and the fee to get rid of the advertisement is not that large.)
    Thanks for clarifying,
    Best regards

photobucket is still working fine for some people, myself included.

however that could change at any time!

more people are becoming affected daily and more and more threads are becoming decimated.

it's not the advertisements but the extortionate fee for 3rd party hosting that is the issue.

stick with storing your images on PB by all means -

but you may eventually have to find another provider to host them on the forum.

it doesn't appear to be an issue on OF as they use attachments.

you can thus always link an image from over there to here.

Since I use Yahoo mail, flickr works just fine!

Gave up on trying to download all the pics off PB (although I have backups somewhere). Everytime I got a download link, it never worked. Stupid PB.

The one bad thing about using off site photo storage for documents here is that you will end up with all your archived an older documents will have blank picture spots as members subscriptions expire on the third party sites the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors site has many older documents that have good "How To" articles with no pictures.

I used to love Pbuckets but they changed policy. So I joined Flickr and had very good results. Then they seeming tried a prototype format and omitted the BBcode. I could not post actual photos. Then I reapplied to Flickr using new call name and that had the BBcode! So, I have stopped PB, though there are some old photos. I just dropped many shots from my computer into the Flickr account. I might try Imgur too as backup. Thanks.

Just opened account with imgur and loaded 70 shots from my computer. Clicked on a photo, chose BBcode copy and then pasted here.. works fine!

Daft question perhaps, Dave, but why isn't it possible to upload images direct from the WFM forum? Is it a security or a cost issue?

not a daft question, but I'm afraid that I'm not really qualified to answer this.

it probably is possible, but attachments have been disabled.

there may well be bandwidth and space issues and also cost and image ownership issues.

image file size will probably come into the equation as well.

If one of the tech savvy Moderators takes a look at this page on post image it appears that the ability to be able to directly add photos to forums can be added
if the software is compatable. that could make life much easier! https://postimages.org/plugins
