At present you can still click on the speedo link on forum pages etc, go to the PB page & select Email & IM from the Photo Hosting Links, copy & paste it into your browser & it takes you to the pic

    Regards

I take it there was no disaster recovery plan...well...looks like at minimum some theads will need to be recreated. But what to do for the theads from long gone authors?

Weird, for me all still works, so I wonder if this is only affecting those with large quantities of images stored. In any case might be worthwhile searching for alternatives.

seems to be a slow and steady trawl for them, finding those who are using 3rd party posting. I'm watching the slow and painful decimation of many forums.

After i found out about PB, I switched to yahoo Flickr which works well. Then I read about the free imgur and opened an account and use it as a backup. I uploaded many older photos in my imaging software program.

I noticed that a few users have switched to PostImage (postimg.org).
I haven't used it yet, but i just signed up, which was way more pain-free than anything ever was with photobucket.

I just deleted my photobucket account. This can't be working out for them as well as they had planned.
What did they think.....that people just liked to browse photobucket for images and that very few of their users used the site the same way we all did?
Perhaps I'm off base, and the revenue bump has been fantastic for them. But, I say fuck 'em.

edit/add: I have been using an Imgur account since the PB debacle started, but I just don't find it as useful. Partly because either they don't have video uploads, or I just can't figure it out. Hope PostImage works out. Never tried Flickr, but might go there next.

thanks for the heads up on postimage, looks easy to use

i have an old imgur account but interface is confusing / messy for me. plus a lot of juvenile / nonsense comments posted on there (i just ignore them)

I deleted my photobucket account last week.

I have been using both flickr and postimage for a while now; both work well for me.
