Default hamilton - nice provenance but poorly presented and could have done better

    hamilton watch

    Winning bid: 1,232.12 GBP - 10 bids

This is a 1970 Hamilton Royal Navy issue stopwatch issued to Petty officers and test group for timing preasure tests on systems being tested during submarine refits in Devonport Dockyard. A retiring P.O gave it to me when he retired. the number 0552 on the back indicate that its Royal Navy issue and final number of the code /70 show year of issue.

Interesting story about its use during dockside maintenance. We tend to think of these as pilot's watches, but there are of course other uses for a chronograph. I myself had a CWC chrono recently that also had submarine-duty provenance.

I had that on my watch list but a recent spending frenzy meant I wasn't in a position to bid. A good deal for someone.
