Does anyone know what midcase with a 17mm lug width this is? I was offered one and declined it for that reason some time ago. Ian.

to me it is reminiscent of the Dennison 56 or maybe even the Smiths De Luxe mid case.

the radius on the inside of the lug is a good giveaway and also the lug thickness.

but it definitely ain't IWC - any other opinions?

what however does surprise me is that the IWC case back seems to fit a treat..

My guess was also that it was a Dennison GS (aka '56 re-case). I suppose it's possible that a Dennison case could be re-threaded to fit an IWC case back. The movement would not fit properly unless a suitable ring was made.

I did sell a couple of these mid cases a while back.

I had a brief look at it, but something put me off it. I guess it being a wrong mid case, was what it was.
