Thread: These suspect Benrus watches seem to have 9 lives!

Default These suspect Benrus watches seem to have 9 lives!

OK, I've been following these two Benrus watches that have been on eBay for the past few months. They have been discussed quite a bit on the forum here.

One was a Type II with lots of issues (wrong dial, wrong hands, wrong bezel, wrong movement). It was originally put together with slightly different parts than the final listing. After it didn't sell for a while, it showed up for sale from a different seller, but appeared to be the same watch. It finally sold for about $1,300. Yikes.

Along with it was a Type I which looks a bit more promising. It sold as well, and a different buyer (here on MWR) reported buying it and it was headed to Canada.

Now, both watches have shown back up on eBay. They are not from the original seller, and they are now listed by a new seller in Maryland. How did two watches, sold to two different people now show up for sale in Maryland by the same seller? And where does the Canadian buyer fit into any of this? And to make things even weirder, the watches are listed separately AND as a pair.

So, there are 3 current auctions, for two iffy watches, that involve at least 3 different sellers over the past month, and unfortunately, the watches are the same problematic ones. So, BE CAREFUL out there.

If anyone is interested, I can find all of old auctions and threads, but a quick search for Benrus here on MWR will yield a lot of posts about these watches and there never ending quest to be sold for a lot of money.
