Great watch. Regarding the bezel, I'd leave it regarding those ebay bezels, they are naff, unless Frank Roesky is still producing his excellent brass 'struck' bezels (not cheap, but worth it). Otherwise it still looks really great as is. Brilliant score. So how much did it set you back!!! eh?

original spare version 2 bezel? or off your other Glashutte? $700 is a fantastic price. got to be worth $3000 as is.

    Congrats, great find.
the seller will probably buy now an apple watch for the 700 Bucks, and he will think, that the apple watch is far better with all the apps ...

Later this year, the value of his apple watch will be 350 Bucks, next year maybe 200 Bucks, and in three years his kids will no longer go to school wearing the old apple watch, because other kids are laughing.

that bezel certainly looks good; wondered if you would try that.

if you didn't know then you wouldn't know!

if those bay bezels are naff then best to leave them as Paul suggests.

and the price you paid will help compensate for the other one; is it a runner?

as for the case back it wouldn't worry me.

if you are going to wear it you could always consider a display case back like Joe's one.

Thanks for all for your response.
I took the bezel off the other Glashutte. The staff of one is good and the crystal also. I think I'll try to get one full running by using parts from the other. Yours thoughts? Not sure if I should take that red off the minute hand and dial. Part of its heritage?

Stunning find, way better than my £12 WWW Record at the Skegness boot fair.

Funny enough PW, I know what you mean. I'd be tempted to leave it myself. If you can remove the red from the dial safely, then maybe… Though could be risky.

Great score btw. I knew a dealer who used to find these in garage sales back in the day so congrats.. You could use the other bezel however early models such as yours did have pointer bezels, though I`m sure there was a transitional period where the later non-pointer version was used. I would be tempted to leave the watch as-is rather than create a bitser. I would send the watch to Shane Ede in Toronto for service since he has worked on these including those in my old collection. The red paint can be lifted carefully and Shane is good with working on dial cosmetics.

    A great watch and congrats..

Great Story and great watch I once tried to lift of red paint from hands and it got even more worse. My watchmaker cleaned it and you can not see it anymore.

    Thanks Emil.
First step, paint off the dial. Second step I'll clean the hands. I was thinking...if somebody has to mess it up, better be me.
Lambstew, thanks for the info. I'm going to Toronto this summer ,I'll meet up with Shane. Does he have parts available, like balance staff, crystal.

As you can see, I decided to remove traces of paint added in its pass. If it would have been well done ...maybe.

Ken, Well done Sir! Well done indeed! No goodies as a result of my jaunt to Italy and Germany since it was my 25th annivesary gift to my wife. There is however, a package waiting for me at my office from Vienna...I wore this across Italy and Germany.
